Celebrating CTE Month: Unlocking Futures with Career and Technical Education

February is Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, a time to reflect on the incredible opportunities CTE offers to students in our district. CTE isn’t just about learning in the classroom—it’s about getting hands-on experience, exploring careers, and gaining skills that prepare students for the future.

In our district, students have the chance to dive into a wide range of fields, from business and marketing to engineering, culinary arts, aerospace, cybersecurity, health sciences, firefighting, computer science, and more. Whether they're running a school store, learning to code, producing videos, designing in CAD, teaching preschool, or exploring healthcare careers, CTE programs help students discover their passions and prepare them for the workforce or further education.

One of the best things about CTE is the practical, real-world experience students get. Many programs offer the chance to work on projects with local businesses or community organizations—whether it’s building furniture, creating marketing campaigns, or exploring our ecosystem. These hands-on experiences, along with internships, apprenticeships, and industry partnerships, give students a head start when entering the job market or applying to college. Along the way, students can also earn industry-recognized credentials (IRCs), which help validate the skills they’ve gained and make them more competitive in the workforce.

Beyond technical skills, CTE helps students develop the soft skills employers value most—communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and time management. Our students are not only prepared for jobs, but they’re ready to excel in their careers.

From building picnic tables for local businesses to creating apps for community organizations, CTE students are already making an impact. So whether you're a student exploring career paths or a parent looking for opportunities, CTE is where students turn their passions into future careers. Let’s celebrate the hard work and dedication of our students and educators as they unlock their futures, one skill at a time.
