High school students as interns? It is understandable to be skeptical, until you see for yourself how capable students are at contributing to local companies! Summit Technology Academy currently has11 students enrolled in Internship in STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) Careers. Some are on site and some are virtual including Cerner/Oracle, State Farm Insurance, Lead Bank, and Worlds of Fun. These interns are doing the real work of the industry, so not only are they building their soft skills such as communication, problem-solving, and collaboration, they are adding to the skills learned in the classroom and seeing real-world application. Each one is making significant contributions to their mentoring team! See what they have to say!

Student interning at Worlds of Fun

“My time at Worlds of Fun has given me the hands-on experience of what I would typically study in a classroom. By confronting new challenges that face the business every day, my internship has taught me to be versatile in my learning and execution style, which has led me to become a young professional in my field.” - Alex Santoro, Summit Technology Academy, Interning at Worlds of Fun

Girl with computer

“This internship has helped me learn about the inner workings of a business and helped me apply my previously learned computer knowledge to a real world context which is something I would not be able to do in a classroom. This internship has allowed me to go out of my comfort zone and learn more about data intelligence while still getting to incorporate coding. Overall this internship has provided me with valuable job experience at a top software company, which gives me an advantage as I go into college.” - Campbell Gann, Summit Technology Academy, Interning at Cerner/Oracle
